Phase II Environmental Site Assessment is an "intrusive" investigation which collects original samples of soil, groundwater or building materials to analyze for quantitative values of various contaminants. “Recently, when an entrepreneur indicated that he was interested in purchasing a property, I checked the database and was able to tell him that the property was contaminated,” says LaBossière. The scope of work for this type of an investigation is non-intrusive in nature and does not involve a sample collection and analysis program.
