The first is primarily concerned with following the killer's trail, while the second greatly expands the plot, introducing so many new characters and so much lore that you might be initially confused. The player then must pay a smith to construct the desired item. Unlike at the PC version's launch, the Enhanced Edition is now much easier to get into with the optional full tutorial mission that takes you through the ins and outs of the combat, crafting, inventory management, and environment interaction. And in this complicated world, just as in the real one, there isn't necessarily a right or wrong choice--or a neat resolution. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings - Enhanced Edition is a game that lives up to the hype. Meditation is a returning mechanic, though you no longer have to find a campfire as in the first game. It isn't complex but there are some minor idiosyncrasies, some of which are rather sensible. The Witcher 2 drops you right in the thick of it, and expects you to deal with it.

The story and game come off as more mature than other similarly rated games. Geralt can exploit enemy weaknesses by coating his swords with various oils to boost damage or gain status effects, or protect himself by drinking potions to counteract harmful effects like poison or bleeding. Other interface quirks are less understandable. The game is nevertheless demanding of your hardware, though it is attractive even at lower settings. By contrast, The Witcher 2 etches gameplay events into your imagination.

The Witcher 2 is not an open-world game in the way of The Elder Scrolls games; each area is relatively contained though expansive enough to encourage exploration. There was a problem.

Viewing another's memory, taking on a ghostly identity, and other inspired occurrences plant seeds of apprehension: you never know what might be lurking around the bend. You might admire a bearded character's enthusiasm for heading to battle for the first time, but when pressed, he admits his misgivings. What you remember most isn't just what you witness, but what you experience firsthand.
They're meaningful not just because they are packed with excitement, but also because there are stakes--both personal and political.

You won't regret it. Truly a labor of love, this amazing sequel fortifies the foundations laid down by a flawed classic and creates a brilliant masterpiece. Terms of Use and Outside of slow menus and frequent texture pop-in, The Witcher 2 makes an adequate transition from PC to the Xbox 360, offering a rich world with brilliant story-telling, not seen in other fantasy RPGs.

But such quibbles are easily tolerated in this luxuriant digital world.
